ウェブ・サービス事業者であるGoogleとしては、できるだけ他の部分をコモディティ化してネットにアクセスしやすくすることにより自分たちのビジネスを大きくしたいのは当然。

　その結果、Googleが選んだ戦略は、（１）Android・Chrome OSを無料で提供することによりOSをコモディティ化すること、（２）それらのOSがさまざまなCPUで動くようにすることによりCPUをコモディティ化すること、（３）政府にネットのオープン化を迫ることにより通信事業をコモディティ化すること、の三つである。

　今年後半になってAndroidケータイが増えて来たのはまさにその結果だし、２０１０年にはChrome OSのためにネットブック・ビジネスへの参入障壁が下がり、競争原理によりもっと値段が下がる。それどころか、Chrome OSのために、ネットブックにおけるIntelアーキテクチャの牙城がくずれ、ARMベースのネットブックが売れ始める可能性さえある（参照）。１００ドル・パソコンの時代は目前だ。
