My goal for the summer is to do photoshoots of people and improve my photography.
It must be said that I fell asleep watching this film four times…fifth time was the charm.
Masculin Féminin could be described as Godard’s answer to Larry Clark’s Kids. It’s a portrait of 60’s youth, sex, pop culture*, and politics wrapped up in a gorgeous little black and white package. It’s super tame compared to today’s standards but at the time it was considered pretty provocative. The soundtrack is lovely featuring Yé-Yé music mostly performed by the lead actress Chantal Goya. Like I said, I fell sleep watching this film so it’s not my fav Godard; But it can’t be denied that the man has a incredible eye.

* “This film could be called The Children of Marx and Coca-Cola.” (titling shown in film)
